Senior official killed in SW Pakistan attack

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — A deputy commissioner was killed and another official and a passerby were injured when some unknown militants opened fire at their vehicle in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, an official statement said.
The incident happened in Mastung district of the province on Monday night when the deputy commissioner’s convoy was ambushed by the attackers, the statement added.
The critically injured officials and the passerby were shifted to a nearby hospital where the deputy commissioner succumbed to the injuries, the statement added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The area had been cordoned off for investigation. ■
